Trinity Prep Kicks Off LEAP School Season
August 21, 2013 by Don Gentle
For more than 15 years, we have been hosting Trinity Prep’s Ninth Grade class. Each year they kick off their upper school experience by spending a few days in the mountains. They work on team building, personal challenge, and respect for their fellow classmate. It is always a great trip!
Trinity starts their venture from home in Winterpark, Florida. They jump on the bus and depart at 9 p.m. to head up to the mountains. Their skillful coach buses have always been handled by Mears Transportation out of Orlando Florida. The Mears folks drive them safely up the mountain overnight to arrive just in time for breakfast on their second day of school! Yep, they literally start the school year off here at High Rocks!
This year was another awesome event with over 125 freshman attending to participate in backpacking, high ropes challenge course, rock climbing, group problem solving, and a hike in DuPont State Forest. Of course we had some fun times in our groups with a trip to Sliding Rock, an evening corn maze, and even a traditional Appalachian square dance.
We know they learned a lot, had some fun, and even learned a little more about themselves and their classmates along the way.
